Job Description
Network Engineer
1. Network Infrastructure Management
• Maintain and support LAN and WAN infrastructure including Fibre Optic and UTP-based structured cabling systems.
• Diagnose and perform comprehensive maintenance of:
o Layer-2 and Layer-3 Switches
o Routers
o Bridges
o Media Converters
o LIUs
o Patch Panels, I/O Boxes, Connectors, Patch Cords, and other passive components
• Ensure supply and replacement of defective spare parts, units, and hardware components.
• Restore network systems to original working condition in case of faults.
• Maintain and ensure proper upkeep of all network racks and associated hardware.
• Support Satellite Links, leased lines, and modem connectivity infrastructure.

2. Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting
• Perform daily monitoring of LAN/WAN infrastructure.
• Conduct manual testing and troubleshooting of network issues.
• Report daily network health status to the Engineer-in-Charge.
• Ensure high network uptime and optimal performance of connected applications.
• Provide configuration/reconfiguration of switches, hubs, nodes, and servers as required.

3. Network Configuration & Optimization
• Configure and manage Layer-2 and Layer-3 switches.
• Implement protocol configuration and migration as required.
• Configure routing protocols on new routers/switches as per existing network design.
• Perform link/device augmentation, deletion, relocation, connection, and disconnection activities.
• Manage IP addressing schemes (DHCP/Static allocation) as per organizational requirements.
• Ensure efficient IP address management and optimization.

4. Documentation & Inventory Management
• Maintain updated inventory/asset list of entire IT network infrastructure.
• Maintain and update detailed LAN/WAN network diagrams.
• Maintain fault logs and historical records of all network equipment.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports related to network activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics / Telecommunications or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of:
o LAN/WAN technologies
o TCP/IP networking
o Routing & Switching concepts
o VLAN, STP, OSPF, Static Routing
o DHCP, DNS
• Hands-on experience with Layer-2 & Layer-3 switches and enterprise routers.
• Experience in structured cabling (Fibre & UTP).
• Knowledge of network racks, patch panels, and passive components.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to maintain technical documentation.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
