If you are recommended but miss a TGC seat, you may be offered the October 2027 SSC (Tech) course, subject to eligibility and vacancies.
Eligibility
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in a notified stream from a recognised university. Degrees from foreign universities are not accepted.
- Final-year students: can apply if they submit proof of passing with all mark sheets by 1 July 2027. If your result will be declared after that date, you are not eligible. Your cumulative percentage must clear the stream cut-off.
- Age: 20 to 27 years on 1 July 2027. Only the date of birth on your Matriculation certificate counts.
- Marital status: unmarried men only. Marrying after applying means you will not be inducted.
- Nationality: an Indian citizen, a subject of Nepal, or a person of Indian origin in the categories listed in the notification.
- Physical standards before joining IMA: 2.4 km run in 10 min 30 sec, 40 push-ups, 6 pull-ups, 30 sit-ups, 2 sets of 30 squats, 2 sets of 10 lunges, and basic swimming.
Pay and benefits
During IMA training: stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month.
After commission as Lieutenant: Pay Level-10 (Rs. 56,100 to 1,77,500) plus Military Service Pay of Rs. 15,500 per month, DA, technical and other allowances as applicable. Final pay depends on Army rules and your posting.

Selection process

Shortlisting by stream, on your cumulative engineering percentage. There is no written exam.

SSB interview of up to five days. Shortlisted candidates choose a centre and date on the portal on a first come, first served basis. Reported centres are Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru and Jalandhar.

Medical examination to Army officer standards for recommended candidates.

Merit list and joining letter for IMA, stream-wise and limited to the vacancies.

Fill in personal, communication, education and previous SSB details exactly as on your certificates. Select your engineering stream exactly as written on your degree.
