Eligibility
- Education: Matric with ITI, or Apprenticeship Training with NTC, or NCTVT, as on 01-10-2026.
- Experience: at least 3 years of arc welding, including covered arc welding of butt joints on 9 mm thick carbon steel sheets without a backing strip, in downward or upright position as per ISO 9606-1.
- Preference: experience in Enclosed Arc (EA) welding or similar specialised work in shipbuilding, shipping, heavy engineering, railways or comparable fields.
- Age: maximum 35 years as on 01-10-2026, with relaxation as per Govt. of India guidelines.
- Medical: sound health and free from colour blindness. No relaxation is allowed.
- Working or non-working candidates can attend. Ex-contract employees of IRCON whose project closed can also apply and should bring their termination letter.
Salary and benefits
Pay: basic of the pay scale (Rs. 22,000 to 63,000), plus Variable DA (currently 55.7%) and allowances at 15% of basic. At the starting basic of Rs. 22,000 this works out to roughly Rs. 37,500 per month before deductions. This is Apnajob’s own estimate from the notice, not an IRCON figure.
- Yearly increment of 3% on basic, based on performance.
- 12 casual leaves and 12 earned leaves a year. Earned leave can be encashed after 3 years of service.
- No HRA. Bachelor accommodation is provided at project sites.
- Health insurance of Rs. 5 lakh cover is bought by the employee. Premium up to Rs. 8,000 a year is reimbursed with proof.
- PF is deducted on a wage ceiling of Rs. 30,000, with a matching IRCON contribution.
- TA/DA as per equivalent regular employees. No pay protection and no other perks.
Contract terms
- Initial contract of 2 years, extendable on performance and project need. Performance is reviewed after one year.
- The job ends with the project and gives no right to a regular post in IRCON.
- A service bond of Rs. 5 lakh must be signed for the initial 2 years and any extension, up to a maximum of 3 years.
- One weekly off and public holidays when the project office is closed.
What to bring
Bring one set of photocopies plus the originals of:
- Application typed on A4 paper in the format given in the official notice (Annexure-I), with a self-attested passport photo.
- Experience certificates in order. If you are working now, add your last two months’ salary slips, since an offer letter alone is not accepted.
- Class X certificate as proof of date of birth.
- Caste, EWS or age-relaxation certificate in the Govt. of India format. OBC candidates need a current financial year non-creamy-layer certificate (Annexure-A in the notice).
- Degree or diploma and all mark sheets. Write percentages without rounding off.
