How sports marks work. Marks are given only for your single highest medal or participation in the window. For example, at the Olympic Games the marks are 100 for Gold, 92 for Silver, 84 for Bronze and 75 for participation. The notice lists 18 competition levels in all, so check the marking scheme before you apply.

Age is counted as on 1 November 2026. The date of birth is taken from your Matriculation or Higher Secondary certificate.

The minimum age is 18 years. The base age limit is 18 to 23 years, and the maximum ages above add the relaxation for meritorious sportspersons. An OBC (NCL) certificate must be issued within 3 years before 1 November 2026.

Salary and benefits
Besides basic pay, ITBP Constables get DA, ration, washing, border and transport allowances, free uniform, accommodation or HRA, leave pass and medical facilities. Pension is under the New Restructured Defined Contributory Pension Scheme.

There is no written exam. Merit is decided only by your sports achievement marks.

Physical Standard Test
Height, chest and weight are checked (PST).
Sports Trial Test
Qualifying test of 40 marks. Minimum 20 marks
Merit list
Based only on the sports achievement marking scheme.
Medical examination
Detailed Medical Examination (DME), then a Review Medical Examination (RME) if needed.
Trial marks are not counted in the merit list. The trial is waived for candidates who represented India with Department of Sports clearance. If marks are equal, the tie is broken by higher marks, then higher national-level achievement, then younger age, then alphabetical order of name. For an RME you must opt within 24 hours, and the decision is final.
